COLUMBUS, OHIO – Claudette Dolores Way, 89, died peacefully on August 24, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born on October 8, 1934, in Fall River, MA. She was the youngest of 12 children born to the late David Louis and Marie Antoinette (Genereux) Roy and shared fond memories of her stepfather, Frank C. W. Bell.
Claudette was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her loving husband of 58 years, George William “Bill” Way, Jr.
Growing up in and around Boston, she graduated in 1952 from Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls in Roxbury, MA. Always sporty, she played on the high school basketball team.
Claudette devoted her life to being a doting wife and mother to her seven children. She will be remembered for her patience, sense of humor and unselfishness, and for always being the best dressed in the room. She was an avid reader, a competitive Euchre card player and a sports enthusiast, especially rooting for the Celtics and Patriots. Due to Bill’s work, the family lived in a multitude of states, and she made every new house a home. Claudette and Bill traveled abroad extensively, loved to vacation with family on the beaches of Cape Cod and never missed a sunset from the lanai of their Fort Myers home. They brought family and friends together for countless holidays and celebrations. Birthday serenades, first day of school send-offs, goodbye waves and the many Christmas traditions will never be forgotten.
Claudette will be greatly missed by her seven children, James Daly (Chunmei), Katherine (Aharon) Boghosian, Jennifer (Mark) Wiley, Colleen Way (John Kaufman), Matthew Way, Padraic (Jane) Way and Antoinette (Mike) Mussay; daughter-in-law Donna Daly; 12 grandchildren, Monique Evans, Jonathan (Wai) Howell, Michael (Sheridan) Daly, Adam (Morgan) and Rachel (Zack) Boghosian, Veronica, Cameron, Madeline, Nolan and Shane Mussay, Anthony (Caroline) and Lindsay Donovan; nine great grandchildren, Julia, Olivia, Maria, Dominic, Vincent, Ella, Miller, Charlotte and Calvin; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
The family will have a private memorial service on Sunday, September 1, 2024, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Schoedinger Worthington funeral home, 6699 North High St., Worthington, OH 43085.
Her final resting place will be with her husband, Bill, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Claudette’s name may be made to Summit Hospice, 2760 Airport Dr., Suite 160, Columbus, OH 43219.
