Donald M. Lynne, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully December 31, 2025. He was an Usher, Member, Deacon, and Elder of Worthington Presbyterian Church. Don graduated from Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University and then worked as Credit Manager for the Union Company and Bank One, and later in sales with R.L. Polk and Co. He was also an Adjunct Professor at Franklin University for several years, and after retirement, he was a Greeter for The Andersons General Store. Don was a Life Member of Charity Newsies, the Agonis Club, and the Ohio State Alumni Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a past presiding officer of over a dozen groups and a member of many more. His three favorite Masonic activities were being Master of his Lodge (University 631 F&AM), serving as an active clown in Aladdin Temple Clown Unit, and being a Proctor at the Children’s Dyslexia Center, a charity of Scottish Rite Freemasonry. He also enjoyed his time in Charity Newsies doing home visits and then returning to Wheatics Wahlems house for fellowship. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Harry and Gladys Lynne, his wife of 53 years, Joan, who was the love of his life and best friend, and his loving son Hunter. Surviving Don are four children Bradley (Lynne-Joseph) of Tampa, FL, Rex (Brenda) of Columbus, Polly (Doug) Bosse of Richmond, VA, and Jenny (Glenn) Smeal of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Adam (Lexi) and Amanda Lynne, Meg (Sam) Pannepacker and Laura Bosse, Glenn Richard, Maggie, and Nolan Smeal, and two great-grandchildren, Lila and Wesley Pannepacker. Also important to Don was following his children and grandchildren’s school and sports activities, traveling, reading, Lakeside, the many pictures in his house, his many friends, and most of all his journey and relationship with God. So, overall, a “thumbs up” and a blessed life. He hoped to be remembered as a good guy to his family and friends. He focused on two objectives: to keep playing until the gun sounded, indicating the game of life was over, and to serve God, leaving the consequences to Him. Friends may call on Friday, January 30, 4:00 – 7:30 pm at Schoedinger Worthington with a Masonic Service from 6:30-7pm.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 31st at 10am at Worthington Presbyterian Church, 7773 High St. Worthington, OH 43085. Pastor Wayne Morrison will be officiating.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Worthington Presbyterian Church, Children’s Dyslexia Centers, or Charity Newsies.
