

Douglas James (Skip) Martin, age 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 5, 2022. Skip was born on July 4, 1940, and was a graduate of Central High School in Columbus, Ohio, a U.S. Army veteran, and retired from United Parcel Service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, Florida, and a Samaritan’s Purse volunteer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Douglas Martin and Louise Ricketts Martin Pless, and granddaughter, Hannah Grace Martin. Skip is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sarah Gentry Martin; sons, Aaron Martin, Alex (Rachel) Martin, and Adam (Kari) Martin; grandchildren, Olivia (Chase) Castle, Kolby Martin, Max Martin, Zachary Martin and Marlee Martin; brothers, Mickey (Vickie) Pless, Randy (Joyce) Pless and Kevin (Rebecca) DeLong; sisters-in-law, Nancy Vento and Mary (Jerry) Cole.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, Englewood, Florida, with Pastor John Boutchia officiating.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022, in the chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43213, with Pastor Jonathan Wiley of Grace Polaris Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Operation Hurricane Rebuild Fund, 75 Pine Street, Englewood, FL 34223.
