Dr. Marion L. Cremer

Marion was a beloved and brilliant professor at The Ohio State University who made significant developmental contributions to OSU’s Hospitality Management Program. She was known for captivating lectures and for surefooted guidance to many graduate students following in her footsteps toward a PhD in Hospitality Management. Dr. Cremer authored several textbooks that helped advance the field of Food Technology. For her contributions, she was recognized with OSU’s Hospitality Management Lifetime Achievement award.

She was a registered dietitian and a 50-plus year member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She loved the restaurant business and will surely be missed by restaurant owners and servers in the Columbus area—not only for her frequent patronage but for her gregarious personality: a relaxed charm personified by entertaining storytelling, her warm smile and easy laugh.

She was born on May 29, 1935, in Bellaire, Ohio, to the late John and Elizabeth (Spring) Cremer.

She was part of a loving and close extended family and will be greatly missed by her cousins, David (Joan) Groom, Philip David, Mark David, and Kristie (Kevin) Kern; and numerous dear friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her cousin, Shirley Klueter, and her Spring family aunts Grace, Ruth and Maxyne. The family counted on her master cake baking skills to create the perfect cake for every holiday occasion—made with love AND food science! She had passions for music, politics and OSU sports.

A visitation for Marion will be held Friday, November 15, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 16, at Worthington United Methodist Church--where Marion was a long-time member--600 High St, Worthington, OH 43085, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to Worthington United Methodist Church or to Worthington Resource Pantry.
