Gerald “Jerry” Edwin Hunt III, 49, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on June 18, 2023. He was born on September 1, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio to Gerald Edwin Hunt Jr. and Berna (Robert) Puckett. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Raymond Stover, Gladys Stover, Gerald Hunt Sr., and Rose Marie Yonadi Hunt Belknap; and his incredibly influential and close friends, Kent “Flash” Gibney and Jeremiah Brooks.
No words can sufficiently express how much Jerry will be missed by his wife and soulmate, Elisabeth Hunt; stepchildren, Wesley and Spencer Carson; his parents; siblings, John Hunt and Judy Wright; his special Aunt Lynda (Curtis) Marcum; supportive and loved family friends, the Gibney Family; the Hysell and Hilditch families; his pups he absolutely adored, Chief Brody and Loki; and Jerry’s numerous friends and family members who love him so much, and always will.
Jerry graduated from both Grove City High School and Paul C. Hayes Technical School, then worked as a print press operator and artist for many years before building a home-based business in Westerville, through which he was able to channel his passion for invention and ingenuity into exceptional creations. Jerry excelled at and perfected anything he did, which included riding his bike, drawing, taking photos, blacksmithing, creating custom jewelry, playing pool, digitally designing one-of-a-kind pieces and parts for endless purposes, operating a print press, remodeling his home, and repairing everything from a car to a faucet to a fence post. Jerry’s heart was so big for those in his circle, and he selflessly bent over backward to help those he loved, even to the detriment of his own health and well-being. His wit was the quickest and funniest as he could make anyone laugh with his hilarious quips and the insightful ways he translated what he saw in the world into something humorous. His loyalty was unmatched; if Jerry cared about you, he would defend and stand with you against any obstacle and offer a complete feeling of protection that only those who know Jerry well have gotten to experience. His mind was beautiful - he could problem-solve anything, fix anything, and make anything, and those who have any of the jewelry, metal work, or art he created know how stunningly unique and special everything he touched became.
When Elisabeth and Jerry met in 2006, a love story like no other began, and continued for 17 years. Jerry’s unconditional love for his wife will forever be unparalleled, and Elisabeth was the luckiest woman in the world to have Jerry. He loved her so completely and so unabashedly. Jerry will forever be Elisabeth’s “Amazing Jerry” and Elisabeth will forever be Jerry’s “Adorable Elisabeth.”
Jerry deserved more time on this Earth; however, the hurt and pain he endured inside is now over. He is leaving a profound legacy through organ donation. His selflessness and desire to give to and help others has been realized as this beautiful continuation of him will live on through these life-saving gifts. Jerry would be so proud.
There will be a Remembrance Gathering for Jerry on Friday, 9/29/23 from 2-8PM at Spring Hollow Lodge, located in Sharon Woods Metro Park, 1069 W Main St, Westerville, OH 43081.
The gathering will be open house style and casual to come together to share our memories of, our love for, and our heartache at the loss of Jerry. We would love for all of you to come to enjoy stories of Jerry along with some light refreshments.
While Jerry was very camera shy, if you have any photos you would like to send to his wife, she welcomes them so much.
