

Isolde Haas, age 94, of Worthington, Ohio, passed away on April 22 at Mount Carmel East Hospital, surrounded by two of her three children. Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Werner Haas; and sisters Ulrike (Eugen) Notter and Segilde (Richard) Mueller. Survived by her sister Dietlinde (Philip) Jaeger; brother-in-law Gerald (Dagmar) Haas; her children Brenda (Donald) Gainer, Arnold (Shari) Haas, and Norbert (Renee) Haas; two nieces, eight nephews, eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Isolde was born in Yokohama, Japan, and earned her Masters in Music Performance at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. She was a classically trained cellist who also studied under Pablo Casals in Zermatt, Switzerland in 1955. She was a member of numerous orchestras and smaller ensembles, including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra where she played in the 1960s and 70s. She was an avid tennis player, enjoyed daily bike rides and frequent walks, and skied in Colorado as recently as 14 months ago.
A memorial celebration will be held at Highbanks Metro Park on June 5 at 6 pm. Please dress casually and join us for a potluck dinner where we hope to share memories of this remarkable woman. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Columbus Metro Parks.
