Chip was part of the first graduating class of Northland High School in Columbus and later received his Bachelor of Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
While serving in the US Army in Germany in the early 70’s, Chip was able to explore Europe, including attending the F1 race in Monaco, some wild adventures in the Alps, and going to the ’72 Olympics.
Always up for adventure, Chip was also a rock climber and caver for many years and he went rafting in his 70’s.
Soccer was his passion – from coaching kids to playing adult soccer for over 30 years to being a devoted supporter of the Columbus Crew.
Ever curious, if something sparked his interest, Chip would read, investigate, travel, or do whatever he needed to do to learn as much as he could. He was an avid reader and book lover. And his world was filled with music.
Above all else, Chip cherished his family. They meant everything to him. He is survived by his loving and loved wife, Megan, his children Graham Northrup, Colin Northrup, Jennifer Kennedy, and Michael Leston, and his grandchildren, Bridget Kennedy and Eleanor (Ellie) Kennedy.
He is also survived by his sister and brother, Lynda Ackerman and Scot Northrup, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please go do something fun with your family and friends. That’s what Chip would want.
A Celebration of Chip’s Life, will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 4:30PM until 7:30PM at the Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, 6699 North High St., Worthington OH 43085. Please wear something comfortable and very casual to celebrate Chip and the life that he lived.
