

Beloved child of God, John E. Lentsch Jr., went home to Jesus on April 29, 2026 at Kobacker Hospice House. He was born on November 27, 1945 to John and Ardis Lentsch. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Ardis Lentsch and his brother James Lentsch.
John is survived by his loving wife of almost 20 years, Nancy Lentsch. He is also survived by step-daughter Melissa Parker (Dan) and grandson Evan Parker. As the oldest of 16 children, John, or Jack as he was known to them, is survived by many siblings: Terry Lentsch, Rod Freudenberg (Mary), Jill Keenum (Joe), Rick Freudenberg (Carla), Randy Freudenberg (Kathy), Phil Lentsch, Ray Freudenberg (Marilyn), Rick Lentsch (Pat), Renee Kemp, Rhonda Clemens (Mark), Lynn Adams, Jean Reams (Greg), Matt Lentsch (Connie), and Ann Uzzel (Greg). On Nancy’s side of the family, he is survived by sister-in-law Barb Mason and brother-in-law Tom Mason (Kim). John is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
John proudly served as a medic in the Air Force in Tucson and Dayton during the Viet Nam era. He then earned a Bachelor’s degree at the Ohio State University. He enjoyed a long career as computer programmer and network administrator for the Ohio State Department of Jobs and Family Services. John was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church where he worshipped and served with his loving church family. He participated in several small groups and served as a lector for many years.
Family was of utmost importance to him. His grandson Evan (who could do no wrong in Grandpa’s eyes) was the light of his life. They shared a special bond over cars and Nascar. John enjoyed golf, bicycling, reading, and travel. John will be remembered for his love of discussion, his faith, his optimism, and compassion. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
The funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9th at Lord of Life Lutheran Church (2480 W. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus,Ohio 43235). Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00am. The service will begin at 11:00am. A lunch will be provided by the church for family and guests immediately following the service. Charitable Donations may be made in John’s memory to Riverview International Center (1520 W Henderson Rd. Ste 100/ Columbus, Ohio 43220) or the Worthington Resource Food Pantry (500 Schrock Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43229).
