

John “Jack” Corbett, 93, of Dublin passed away on March 27, 2023. He was born on April 16, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Daniel and Margaret (Dunne) Corbett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ursula (Thompson) Corbett, his sister Joan Johnson, his daughter-in-law Barbara (Lamagese) Corbett, his sister-in-law Maureen (Thompson) Hyland and brother-in-law Jack Hyland.
He is survived by his children Steve Corbett, Bill (Virginia) Corbett, Glenn Corbett and Cynthia (Mike) Humphry; his grandchildren who he loved dearly Caitlin Corbett, Danielle (Perry) Kehmna, Jack Humphry, Megan Humphry, Molly Corbett and Ruby Corbett; his sister-in-law Geri (Bob) Williams; his niece Carol (Johnson) Sangiorgio and his extended family and friends.
Jack received a BA degree in Economics from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, N.Y. and a Masters degree in finance and management from NYU in New York City. He served in a Tank Battalion in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as Sergeant and received the 47th Infantry Division Commendation for meritorious service.
Jack was a retired Vice President of Purchasing & Materials Management with American Electric Power Co. (AEP), being with them from 1957 to 1994. He was a member of the AEP Service Corporation’s Board of Directors. For many years he was a member and monthly contributor to the widely respected National Institute for Supply Management which provides monthly analysis of current business conditions in the country. He was also Chairman of the National Utility Purchasing Managers Association in 1980-1981.
During his life, he was a member of the Riverside-Grant Foundation Board of Trustees; a volunteer and head of the Business Committee and Treasurer of the Board of the Hospice at Riverside-Grant Kobacker House; Treasurer of the Board of Newsreel, Inc. for the visually impaired and an original board member of the Contemporary American Theater Company (CATCO) in Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf and in his younger days, basketball. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family who he loved so much and was so proud of.
Jack was a great husband, father and grandfather (Pop Pop). He was always generous, supportive, funny and kind. He was such a positive influence on everyone in his family. He spent much time in his later years caring for his beautiful bride Ursula, who he loved dearly. His advice and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 13th at 10:30 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Columbus on behalf of both Jack and his wife Ursula who passed just three weeks ago. This will be immediately followed by an interment ceremony at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lewis Center, OH.
As an alternative to flowers, contributions in Jack’s name can be sent to Kobacker House in Columbus or to the St. Peter Church Charitable Fund.
