Joyce Gladstone Stambaugh passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and quiet strength. She was born on May 3, 1935, in Ethiopia, the daughter of Harold and Margaret Wilson, medical missionaries whose work and values deeply shaped the course of her life.
Joyce returned to the United States, grew up in Columbus Ohio and graduated from the Ohio State University School of Nursing in 1957, embarking on a life devoted to care and service. In 1955, she married Roy Arthur Stambaugh, beginning a partnership rooted in love, commitment, and shared purpose.
Throughout her life, Joyce balanced the roles of nurse, mother, Grandmother, and great grand mother. She was a community servant with humility and grace. She offered care not only professionally, but in every part of her life – nurturing her family, supporting her friends, and giving generously of her time and heart to those in need.
She is survived by her beloved children: Terry Stambaugh, Kevin Stambaugh, Kim Stambaugh, and Bonnie Clary-Tipton. Joyce’s life was a testament to quiet faith, enduring love, and a steady spirit that lifted and comforted all who knew her.
A private family service will be held, followed by a public celebration of life at 3:00 PM on October 5th, 2025 at 5090 Tussic St., Westerville, Ohio, 43082. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to a cause close to her heart, reflecting her lifelong commitment to healing and helping others.
Though Joyce has left this earthly life, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched – a gentle, steady presence we will forever carry with us.
