

Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Stranges, age 88, born June 14, 1936, to the late Carmel and Anna (Larkins) Wycoff, passed away peacefully at home on April 7th. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Dr. Richard Stranges. Survived by her loving children, Ric (Sharon), Dennis (Evie), Robb (Susie), Tina (Nick) Verdea, and Mike (Gretchen) Stranges, her much-loved 15 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren, dear Nieces and Nephews, and the dearest of friends nurtured from every stage of her rich life. Kathy was the sixth-born child in New Cumberland, West Virginia, but shortly thereafter found her home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Kathy toured the area with her sisters as part of a local synchronized swimming team. Earning a scholarship to West Liberty State College, Kathy earned a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene, and it was there that she fell in love with her lifelong love, Richard. After raising their 5 children, Kathy returned to work as an adult educator helping hundreds of individuals gain their GED. Kathy will forever be remembered for being a remarkably loving Nana, for her gracious and welcoming hospitality, her insatiable appetite for reading, including two book clubs – one with her dear friends and the “Grands Book Club” with her admiring Granddaughters. Friends and family will be received at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High Street, Worthington, OH 43085 on Sunday, April 13th from 3-6 pm, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14th, 10:00 a.m., Father Patrick Hyland officiating.
