

He grew up loving sports and tried them all, excelling in football and baseball. Larry attended University of Richmond, Virginia, on a full football scholarship. At U of R he earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1967, was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, was Sports Illustrated running back of the week, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. After college, he played pro for the Denver Broncos, and semi-pro for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He then transitioned to the Insurance Industry for 45 years, ultimately owning his own agency, before retiring in 2010.
Larry was a kind man who never spoke a harsh word of anyone. He was good natured, and was known for being a helpful sibling, loving father, and hardworking man who never complained. He will be greatly missed.
Predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Zunich; Brothers John and Tom, Sisters Rose, Carol, and Maryann. Survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Martha “Marty” Dillon Zunich; Children Stephanie (Mike) Donley, Chris (Anna) Zunich, Michael (Cristina) Zunich; Martha’s Children Mark (Audra) Grim, Chris (Jennifer) Grim, Amy (Jeremy) Buxbaum; Siblings Matthew (Marion), Steven, Irene (John); Grandchildren Zach, Miranda, Andrew, Alicia, Brye, Leigha, Brailynn, Sarah (Ryan), Samantha, Brian, Katie, Max, Noah; Great Grandchildren Nathan and Nadia.
A visitation for Larry will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, May 1, 2025 at11:00 AM at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Rd, Columbus, OH 43235. Private inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery.
