Marion Rees, 85, of Columbus, entered into eternal life on February 11, 2023. She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to the late Howard and Rhea (Mervine) Stocker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Chuck Rees; and her younger brother, John H. Stocker.
Marion graduated with honors from Schenley High school in Pittsburgh, and later worked as a bank teller.
Marion met Chuck, the love of her life, at a church dance. They married in 1960 and raised two daughters. Marion not only took care of family and home, she was an avid volunteer- including many years tending the gift shop at St. Ann’s Hospital.
A faithful servant of the Lord, she remained involved in her church throughout her life. When she and her family moved to Columbus Ohio, they joined Ascension Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served in the Lutheran Church Women’s group, visited those in need with the Good Shepherds, and stepped in wherever she could be of help at every opportunity. She also participated in numerous other fellowship groups where she and Chuck formed deep and lasting friendships.
Marion’s favorite ways to spend time with family and friends were playing golf, skiing on the “bunny hill”, attending concerts and other theater events, and traveling with Chuck.
Marion will be greatly missed by her daughters, Susan (Mark) Shuter and Amy Rees; grandchildren, Damon (Colleen) Shuter and Derek Gagnon; great grandchildren, Lauren and Henry Shuter; sisters-in-law, Beryl Stocker and Carolyn Pentermann; cousin, Barbara (Don) Ormand; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A visitation for Marion will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. A memorial service will occur Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Schoedinger Worthington.
