It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Patrick McVey, a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend, and author, who left us on March 23, 2025 at the age of 44. A man of great depth, wisdom, and kindness, Michael touched the lives of all who knew him with his thoughtful insights, warm heart, and unwavering commitment to his community.
Born at Fort Hood in Texas on January 14, 1981, Michael grew up with a love for baseball, magic tricks, drawing, film making and writing. These were passions that shaped his creativity and sense of wonder throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Upper Arlington High School, class of 1999. He carried his love for story telling into adulthood, by becoming a published author. In 2014 he released Plod On, Sleepless Giant, leaving behind a literary legacy that reflected his imagination, insight, and dedication to the written word.
Michael has a deep sense of responsibility and a passion for serving others. While living in Fairchild, Wisconsin, Michael was a dedicated volunteer firefighter putting his life on the line to protect others while embodying the true spirit of bravery and selflessness. His leadership as the president of Fairchild Fundays brought joy and connection to countless people, ensuring that the community he loved so dearly thrived with laughter, togetherness, and tradition.
More than his many roles, he was a man who truly listened, who thought deeply, and who cared fiercely. He was a pillar of strength for his family and friends, always there with a kind word, a helping hand, or a well-timed joke. All who knew Michael, knew him as a steadfast source of love and encouragement—someone who made life richer just by being in it.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Lennartz (Mike), father Dennis McVey (Angie); siblings: Katie LeCrone (Jim), Kevin McVey (Brittany), Meagan McVey, Jack McVey, Jennifer Cruze (Justin), Brian Streets; Nieces and Nephews: Addison Fausey, Annabelle LeCrone, Macie Foor, Macayla Cruze, Mason Cruze, Maddox Cruze, and Kaylyn Streets. He is preceded in death by stepfather Larry Streets.
His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of compassion, dedication, and wisdom will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
