Michael Somerville

Michael Phillip Somerville, age 79, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023. He was born August 31, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Norman Arthur Somerville and Mary Elizabeth Wiltberger. Michael is survived by loving wife, Mary Cay (Nagle) Somerville, his sons; Sean Somerville and Kevin (Lori) Somerville, grandchildren; Ronan Somerville, Wyatt Somerville, Lee Somerville, and Brandon Somerville, brother, James Somerville, nephews; Tod Somerville, and Terry Somerville, beloved family pets; Caprice, Violet, Sabre, Max, and Sparkle, along with other dear family and friends. Michael grew up in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Edward D. Libbey High School. He continued his education and attended The Ohio State University with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Agriculture and was a member of The Ohio State Agriculture Fraternity, Alpha Gamma Rho Beta Chapter. Michael was self-employed and owned his own businesses, initially in photography and later an organic meat and seafood for over 25 years. He was very involved in the communities throughout his life; he was an Eagle Scout and achieved the highest rank attainable, and now a part of The Eagle Scout Association, Central Ohio Orchid Society, and Ohio Wine Producers Association. Michael cherished spending time at his cabin in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. His love of nature became his life’s passion and spirituality. He adored gardening, photography, wine making, and growing orchids. Michael was a proud graduate of OSU and devoted fan. He was a bright presence in people’s lives and will be missed deeply. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Central Ohio Orchid Society in his memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverside Hospital and Legacy of Dublin that provided excellent care to him. Family will be receiving friends from 3-5PM, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, OH 43085.
