

“Well Done Thou Good and Faithful Servant,” were the words heard by Nancy Jo Fischer on August 30, 2022, entering into the presence of Jesus Christ on her 83rd birthday in Gilbert, AZ, following a courageous journey with dementia. Nancy was the first of three children born to Joe Byus and Gertrude Warren Pancoast in San Antonio, Texas, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, on August 30, 1939; Nancy was safely delivered by Dr. Jackson, a deacon at Nancy’s church, First Baptist Church of San Antonio, and arrived as a preemie, weighing just three lbs. Nancy loved the Lord with all her heart, living a sanctified life serving decades as the administrator for Bible Study Fellowship in Central Ohio; and at Dublin Baptist Church, Dublin, OH, as a toddler Sunday School teacher, church business secretary, and prayer network leader. Nancy also served at First Baptist Church, Gahanna, OH, as hospitality chairman. Nancy graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio where she enjoyed being involved in the Lasso & Roping Team. Plus, she spent her spare time learning the etiquette of Rainbow Girls. She also attended San Antonio Jr. College, and Durham’s Business College, majoring in business and learning the art of shorthand. The love for her family stretches across several generations. Her husband, Norman H. Fischer, preceded Nancy in death on Thanksgiving Day in 2012. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Johnson (Brian), Gilbert, AZ; her son, John Raab, Jr. (Shannon), Simi Valley, CA; grandchildren, Benjamin Johnson (Criste), great-grandchildren, William, Layla, Gilbert, AZ; Nathan Johnson, New York City, NY; Aaron Johnson (Megan), Parker, CO; Justin Raab, OH; Jeff Raab; CA; Abbey Peralta (Daniel), great-grandchild, Kensington, CA; Ryan Raab, CA; sister, Judith Foster, San Antonio, TX; brother, Tommy Pancoast, TX; cousin, Frank Pease, AZ. Nancy’s professional career spanned decades including Clerk-of-Council for the City of Whitehall, OH, and Paralegal/Legal Secretary for the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris, and Arthur, Columbus, OH. Please join Nancy’s family in celebration of her life (including visitation) and a reception immediately following at Dublin Baptist Church, 741 Coffman Road, Dublin, OH, 43017, on Friday, September 23rd at 4:30 pm (viewing), followed by a service at 6:00 pm. A private burial service will follow on Saturday, September 24th, at 10 am, at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202.
