Rita Welch Lewis, longtime resident of Linworth Ohio, quietly passed away at age 93 on November 26. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck in 2022. They were married for 72 wonderful years and had 5 children Charlie, Chris, Craig, Cathy and Clifford. The family grew to have 8 grandchildren (one deceased, Bryan) and 4 great grandchildren.
Rita was a loving wife and mother who nurtured independence in her children by teaching them how to iron their school uniforms, make basic clothing repairs, prepare food and enjoy the natural world. She had an amazing smile and a good word ready for everyone she met.
Rita worked as a bookkeeper for a travel agency well into her 80’s. Outside of work she had a variety of interests, including playing the piano, painting, gardening and of course cooking. Holiday times were very special, and she spent considerable time hovering over the stove cooking truly memorable holiday feasts.
From time-to-time Rita would write in a journal which included this entry “Never take anything or anybody for granted. Always count your blessings and thank God every day for all the beauty of this world. I say, “Good Morning” to Jesus every day and thank him for such a happy life.”
In another entry she wrote “When I am gone my hope is when you think of me it is with a smile on your face. My life has been full of happiness and joy!”
