Scott grew up in South Toledo, where he graduated in 1968 from Bowsher High School. He then attended University of Toledo, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Management. Scott served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard for six years. He started his career at Ohio Bell in Business Management and spent time at New York Life before serving as Controller at Kevin Knight and Company in Powell before retiring in May of 2022.
His passion for the Lord began at St. Petri’s Church in Toledo, and then continued at Fellowship Lutheran Church in Dublin and All Shepherds Lutheran Church in Lewis Center. He served in many capacities within his church families, mostly as an assistant pastor, Sunday school teacher and usher, and was known as the “loudest singer” within the congregation. Scott’s love for water began at a youthful age when he would spend summers on Lake Erie with his family. He then continued his passion for swimming and fishing at Posey Lake in Adrian, Michigan, and then back to Lake Erie on Catawba Island, where he would enjoy sunsets lakeside with family and friends. Ohio State football was another passion of his, and he enjoyed cheering on his team every Saturday.
Scott was a family man, and always put his family and friends first. Scott and his wife Barb shared a wonderful 44 years of marriage. He was a great Dad to Laura and Katy, and had a special bond with his son-in-law Matt. He was blessed to spend the last ten years serving his favorite role, as “Grampy” to Ben, Drew, Will and Maddie, where they enjoyed swimming, watching boats pass while chatting on the deck, and crafts. His kind heart, fun loving spirit and enthusiastic sense of humor will be deeply missed. We love you, Grampy!
We invite you to make a donation in his honor to All Shepherds Lutheran Church.
