Shelby J Abbott

Shelby Jean Abbott, age 84, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. She was born August 11, 1939, in Honaker, Virginia to the late George H. Fuller and Cecil Mae Harmon. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her loving husband, Paul Abbott, son, Scott Abbott, siblings; Garner Fuller, Bernard Fuller, Dempsey Fuller, Winston Fuller, and Betty McGlothlin.

Shelby retired from Batelle Memorial Institute. After retirement she spent her time enjoying life on Lake Choctaw. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid golfer and known as the life of the party. She will always be affectionately known as “Granny” to anyone who met her.

Shelby is survived by daughter, Rae (Jim) Bunyak, grandchildren; Dylan Bunyak, Ryann Bunyak, Jared (Yari) Abbott, and Megan (Jordan) Castleberry, great grandchildren; Jalen, Nolan and Jennings, siblings; Georgia Presnell and Roby Fuller, and dear friend, Barbara Starker, along with many other family and friends.

She was a bright presence in people’s lives and will be missed deeply. Family will receive friends Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 11-1PM at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 6699 N. High Street, with a funeral service at 1PM. With a Celebration of life at CHOCTAW LAKE LODGE, 2875 Oneida Drive, London, OH at 4 PM. There will be a Graveside Service in Honaker VA, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 1pm. Please meet at Honaker Funeral Home at 12:30 for the procession to Fuller Family Cemetery.
