
Zoltan Nemeth, devoted husband, father and friend died peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Born April 27, 1931, in Sopron, Hungary, Zoltan attended the Technical University of Budapest, graduating with a Civil Engineering degree in 1954, where he met and married the love of his life, also an Engineer (Structural), Anna Harsanyi. In 1956, after the Soviet Uprising, Zoltan and Anna fled their homeland for a better life, spending time in London England followed by Montreal Canada, where their twin daughters, Edie and Judy were born. Then, in 1961, the family immigrated to Columbus, Ohio, where Zoltan was recruited by the Ohio State University to pursue additional studies and join the Department of Civil Engineering. With over 35 years of service, Zoltan pursued his Master and PhD degrees and served as an Associate, then full Professor, along with two terms as acting Chairman of the Department. While at OSU, Zoltan was a pioneer in the field of Transportation Engineering, serving as Director, and later Advisor, for the Ohio Technology Transfer Center. While at OSU, Zoltan was a friend to all and Advisor to many, and will be remembered by his many students with respect.
Zoltan is preceded in death by his parents, Jozsef and Terezia and his sister, Ester. He will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Anna; daughters, Judy and Edie; son-in law, Michael Hartmus and numerous close family and friends. Most importantly, “Papa” will be forever in the memories of his adoring grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica, Erica and Zoltan (young).
Family and friends are invited to gather for Family Visitation and Celebration of Life from 3:00-5:00 PM, on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH 43085.
