

Alonzo was born in Pyatt, Arkansas to Everett and Effie Young. He was the middle of five siblings. At the age of 18 Alonzo was drafted into the US Army and served in Panama on a 262nd General Hospital ship during World War II. Upon his discharge, he left Arkansas and came to Yakima to work in the Fruit industry with his older brother.
It was here that he married Billie Jean Turner to whom he was married for 65 years. As Alonzo referred to “his little family”, two children, Charles Young of Yakima and Frankie Young Glidewell of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Tanya Michelle Glidewell Tiffany Alyse Hall both of New Mexico and two great grandchildren, McKenna and Noah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, parents, Everett and Effie; brothers, Leon, Gilus and James Young as well as a sister, Lucille Young Rogers.
Viewing will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
