Born April 28, 1932, in Yakima, Washington, Art was the son of Dwight and Gladys Danner. He graduated from Cowiche High School in 1950 and served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, stationed in Germany.
In 1959, he married the love of his life, Shirley Danner. Together they shared 66 beautiful years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, devotion, and deep love.
In 1969, Art and Shirley welcomed their daughter, Amanda, into their family through adoption — a decision that became one of the greatest blessings of their lives. As an only child, Amanda was deeply cherished. Art was a steady, devoted father whose quiet strength, guidance, and unwavering presence shaped her life. In his final year, Amanda lovingly cared for her father, reflecting the same steadfast love he had always given her.
Art began his career as a dairy farmer in the Wenas, fulfilling his lifelong dream of working the land and tending cattle. A member of the Dairymen’s Association beginning in 1956, he enjoyed showing cattle and was known for his sportsmanship. In 1972, the family moved to the Nile Valley, where they purchased a farm and raised cattle, pigs, and chickens. He found joy in milking cows, tending his garden, and serving neighbors.
He later worked as a counselor at Flying H Youth Ranch and faithfully played piano at Nile Valley Community Church. In the mid-1980s, he became a chef at Whistlin’ Jack Lodge, where he worked for 25 years, embracing the role with creativity and enthusiasm.
In the 1990s, Art and Shirley relocated to Wapato and became active members of Harrah Community Church. He enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, reading, coin collecting, photography, and listening to weather reports. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Danner; his daughter, Amanda (Gavin); and his grandchildren, Zachary and Gracie.
A Memorial Service will be held on friday, March 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
