Our beloved Brenda Lee Wyatt passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, in Selah, Washington, at the age of 64. She left this world exactly as she lived in it- surrounded by love, full of courage, and thinking of everyone else before herself.
Brenda was born on January 26, 1961, in Othello, Washington, to Ed and Mary McCann. From the beginning, she carried a spark: a mix of determination, warmth, and an instinct to care for the people around her. Anyone who knew Brenda quickly learned that she had a gift for making others feel seen and supported.
Her love story with Paul began on April 1, 1977, a first date that turned into a lifelong partnership. They were married on June 20, 1980, in the Logan Temple in Utah. Through every move, challenge, and new chapter, they built a life anchored in faith, loyalty, and respect. As Paul learned his trade, the family moved often, and Brenda made every place feel like home. In 1988, they planted roots in Ellensburg, Washington, where they raised their five children before moving to the Yakima/Selah area in 2014.
Brenda was the proud and devoted mother of Scott, Kyle, Trevor, Brandon, and Savannah Blakely. As her family grew, she welcomed Jamie, Veraunica, and Cole with the same open-hearted love she gave her own children. Being “Grandma” to her ten grandchildren- Meica, Melia, Miles, Evelyn, Wyatt, Jameson, Clark, Luke, Adeline, and Jack- was one of the greatest joys of her life.
Raising her family was her life’s work, and she poured everything into it. She taught responsibility not through lectures but through real, hands-on living: cows to feed, goats to wrangle, eggs to gather, gardens to coax into bloom, and food storage to rotate. Her home was full of projects, laughter, and lessons that stuck. Her nurturing spirit wasn’t confined to her household. Brenda’s instinct was always to help, to offer a listening ear, a solution, a product she was excited about, or simply a smile. She was endlessly creative, entrepreneurial by nature, and deeply invested in the well-being of those around her.
For eight and a half years, Brenda faced cancer with a grace and strength that inspired everyone who walked alongside her. Even in the most challenging moments, she radiated positivity. She never stopped checking on others, never stopped serving, never stopped believing in the power of faith and connection. Her resilience wasn’t loud; it was steady, gentle, and unmistakably hers.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Paul; her parents, Ed and Mary McCann; her children, Scott (Jamie), Kyle, Trevor, Brandon (Veraunica), and Savannah (Cole) Blakely; her ten grandchildren; and her siblings, Kim (Dan) Barnhurst, Aaron (Elva) McCann, and Melinda (Blake) Bennion. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws who adored her.
She leaves us with a legacy of quiet strength, devotion, freeze-dried foods, and love that reached far beyond her family circle. Those who knew her will carry her warmth and smile with them always.
