Cheryl was born on January 14, 1952, in Yakima, Washington. She spent her life building deep connections with family, friends, coworkers, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a woman defined by kindness, generosity, compassion, and a genuine love for helping others.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Rochel; her son, Justin Baisch; and her two beloved grandchildren, Ava Baisch and Jaden Baisch, who brought immense joy and purpose to her life.
Cheryl dedicated her professional life to serving others through a long and successful career in banking and financial institutions. Beginning as a teller, she worked her way up to branch manager through years of hard work, professionalism, and care for both customers and coworkers. Throughout her career, she worked for institutions including US Bank, Washington Mutual, KeyBank, and WSECU. She earned the respect and admiration of many through her leadership, integrity, and ability to make people feel valued.
Outside of work, Cheryl had a passion for volunteering, traveling the world, and spending time in nature. She especially loved the beauty and peace of the Nile Valley and treasured the many adventures and memories she created throughout her travels. More than anything, though, Cheryl loved her family. Her son and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to support them, encourage them, or remind them how deeply they were loved.
Cheryl also cherished her friendships, especially the bond she shared with her best friend, Jackie Weise. She had a rare gift for making people feel welcome, cared for, and important. Whether through a thoughtful gesture, a kind word, or simply showing up when someone needed her, Cheryl quietly made the lives of those around her better.
As her son, I will remember my mother as the most selfless and giving person I have ever known. She devoted her life to caring for others and always put the needs of family and friends ahead of her own. The love, support, guidance, and strength she gave so freely shaped the lives of everyone around her. I am endlessly grateful for the mother she was and for every moment we shared.
No memorial service will be held at Cheryl’s request. Her ashes will be spread in the Naches River, a place reflecting the natural beauty and peace she loved so much.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
