Dan was a child of the world, growing up in a military family. He was born May 8, 1970, in Fairbanks, AK, but moved every 2 years with his family, graduating from Cooper High School in Abilene, TX and then WSU with a degree in advertising.
Dan loved golf and was on the high school and college golf teams. For one season, Dan competed on the Nike Professional Golf Tour. He was a teaching PGA professional for several years after college.
He started his own advertising business but then got the bug to attend law school. He enrolled at Seattle University, finished his degree and passed the bar right away.
Dan worked for a law firm in Yakima for several years before moving to Portland. He moved back to Yakima in 2023. We were so thankful to have him close to us again and he was able to reconnect with his brothers and their growing families. He became a beloved uncle, even teaching his 3 nephews the game of golf.
He fought depression for many years with his family constantly supporting him through the rough patches.
Dan was a kind, loving soul who will be missed by his family and anyone who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Pat and Dave Gilbreath, his brother Rick (Danielle) in Duvall, his brother Matt (Courtney) in Spokane, three nephews, Ayden, Hagan and Emry and two nieces Violet and Rhyen.
We will feel him in the rain, in the wind, in the bite of snow, in the scent of the autumn leaves, and in the deep and penetrating silence. We might miss him terribly but will never be away from him. Dan returns to joy. As we all will one day
