With sadness we announce the passing David "Dave" Leitch, aged 66, who was the beloved son of John Leitch and Shirley Leitch (Russell). Dave passed away on November 15, 2024, in Yakima, Washington, USA.
Dave was born on February 7, 1958, in Seattle, Washington, USA. He spent his childhood in the Beacon Hill District of Seattle with his two brothers and sister, attending school at Van Asselt Elementary. The family moved to Edmonds, Washington when Dave was a preteen, where Dave attended College Place Middle School and Edmonds High School.
In his teenage years Dave cultivated a love for soccer. In his senior year Dave was chosen to participate in a foreign exchange trip to Brazil for one year. This trip brought David great insight to another country and appreciation for his own.
Dave met his loving wife Cassie Fort in 1986. They were married for 38 years and had one child, Tyler Leitch and Stepdaughter Jamie Thome.
Dave was the ultimate “Macguyver”, able to fix whatever was broken or “build whatever was needed. His mastery as a skilled craftsman and problem solver was the envy of many. He had a long professional career in commercial & residential kitchen sales/installations for both local and national companies, and for some prominent individuals in the Seattle area.
Dave overcame many roadblocks in life with perseverance and style. Even though Dave travelled down a complicated path in life he, through steadfastness, always provided for his family with love and encouragement. One of Dave’s favorite things to do in his free time was to fish on a quiet river away from the distractions of life.
Dave is remembered by family and friends for his generosity, and for his lighthearted laughter that was infectious and freely given. He had a gentle spirit and listened carefully to others. Dave made friends easily and loved to be social.
David is survived by his wife Cassie Leitch, son Tyler Leitch, stepdaughter Jamie Thome; brothers Michael Leitch and Rod Leitch, sister, Laura McKellar; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
A gathering to honor his life will be held in the Seattle area in early December.
