She was born in Brooks, Minnesota on June 29, 1926 to Dona Rivard and Marie Gagner.
While living in Seattle, she met Dominique G. St. Pierre, (Deceased) and was married at the Chapel of the Pines in Ft. Lawton. Thus began her journey as a military wife.
In 1964 the family retired to Yakima, where Della worked for Safeway, until she began losing her sight. Knowing that she may eventually go blind she began preparing for this journey by attending the Guide Dogs for the Blind School in Boring, Oregon. Della graduated and had a new friend in Sophie, her guide dog. When Dominique passed in 1999, she continued her journey with family and friends until settling in at Orchard Park Retirement Home in Yakima.
Della loved to dance and play bean bag baseball. Above all she loved people. She touched the lives of all those she met and will be greatly missed.
Della’s children, Mary Erickson (Deceased), Larry St. Pierre, Danny St. Pierre and Therese Owens invite you to share in a Mass and celebration of her life. Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 15 South 12th Avenue, Yakima on July 9th, 2019 at 11:00 am.
Memorials may be made to Cottage in the Meadow, 1208 48th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902 and Guide Dogs for the Blind, 32901 SE Kelso Rd. Boring, Oregon 97009.
