Beloved Wife and Mother, Delphine Marie Pinget, age 84, died on Thursday, May 7, 2015, after a difficult struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Delphine, “Del” to her friends, who numbered many, was born March 23, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, the loving daughter of Felix Trial and Agnes Bludau Trial.
Delphine delighted in being with family. She found her greatest joy in cooking for family celebrations and baking her legendary cookies. She also loved her garden and anything to do with flowers and birds, especially ducks.
Delphine attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, where she first met her husband to be. Then, she attended St. Henry’s Catholic School from 4th grade through her graduation in 1948. As a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps, she was the head bugler during her senior year and led the St. Henry’s Marching Band in the very first Fiesta Flambeau Night Parade in San Antonio, TX. Throughout her high school years she was also one of the organists for the Masses held at St. John Berchman’s Church which she and her family attended.
In 1949, Delphine married the love of her life, her “Sweetie” and husband for over 65 years, Bernard Eugene Pinget. This great love helped her to have the courage to pack up her family and move to a new and unknown town each time her husband’s advancement also came with transfers. These cities included Victoria, Texas, Tacoma, Washington and Yakima, Washington where she lived the last 47 years of her life.
A true homemaker, Del only went to work outside of the home when her youngest child was 11 years old. At this point, she secured a position for two years at Gilbert Elementary as a Playground Supervisor. Del then accepted the opportunity to work at Adam’s Elementary for two years as the Office Manager. Her last position with the Yakima School District was at Gilbert Elementary where she served as the school’s Office Manager for the next 12 years.
Shortly after her move to Yakima, Washington, Del joined the Young Ladies Institute (YLI). She was President of the organization in 1977-1978 and recently passed her 48th year as an active member. She was involved in numerous fundraising and charitable projects, committee chairman of many, and the flower and corsage lady for all visitors and special events. She continued as an active member in the Past Presidents’ Group of the organization until her death.
Delphine was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Bernard Pinget of Yakima, Washington, her brother, Giles Trial and wife Kathleen of Corpus Christi, Texas, her children, Debbie Pinget, White Swan, Washington, Connie Raub and husband Steve, San Antonio, Texas, Melissa Mayo and husband Tim, Bothel, Washington, Brian Pinget, Issaquah, Washington, her grandchildren, Christopher Clemetson, Puyallup, Washington, Jennifer Lamoure and husband Jonathan, Las Vegas, Nevada, Elysia Hale and husband Justin, San Antonio, Texas, Gregory and Alyss Pinget, Bothell, Washington, and two great grandchildren, Eowyn Clemetson, Puyallup, Washington and Tyler Lamoure, Las Vegas, Nevada.
