

Dorothy Justice passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct 8th in Yakima Wa. Dorothy was born Feb 14, 1931, in Falls City, Nebraska, the youngest out of 7 to John and Ethel Gilliland. Dorothy moved around a lot. She lived in Nebraska, Kansas, California, and Washington. Dorothy fell in love right out of middle school and married Willard Justice in June of 1948, and they would spend the rest of their lives together until Sept of 2000 when Willard passed away. Willard and Dorothy had 3 boys together.
Dorothy and Willard would buy their first home and only home in Selah WA in 1954 and it is now passed down to their son. This was a one a tiny one room house that Willard would go on and build on a family room 2 bedrooms and a larger kitchen. Both Dorothy and Willard became a large part in Selah after buying the home. Dorothy was awarded Selah Pioneer in 2019 and she and her husband were awarded Grand Marshall before his passing.
Dorothy was well known in Selah as she ran the Selah Variety store for many years until the doors closed. She was big on church and was a valued member of the Selah United Methodist Church. Dorothy also worked at the Selah hospital also known as the Yakima Valley School. Other places she worked were Ross Packing, Hospices, volunteered at the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Dorothy was also a member of the Rebekahs, Eagles Auxiliary, and the EL-Shelam- Daughters of the Nile.
Dorothy enjoyed bowling and was in a league for many years. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family from anything to having family dinner, to family coming from out of state to visit, to having her grandchildren over for the weekend. Dorothy’s Birthday was very special not only to have it on Valentines Day, but also to share with 2 granddaughters.
Dorothy survived by her 2 sons, George Justice of Selah, WA, Dick Justice and wife Ellie of Waterloo, IA, 11 Grandkids, 24 Great grandkids, 6 Great Great Grandkids. She was Proceeded in death by her husband Willard Justice, son Robert Justice, her Parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, 1 grandchild, and 3 great grandchildren.
Viewing and Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Nov 4th at 10am at Keith and Keith Funeral Home followed by a reception at the Selah United Methodist Church at 1060 Selah Loop Road. Dorothy’s family will join you there after a brief family graveside service
