Edgar K. Carr left this earth to join his parents and siblings on January 2, 2014. Ed was born in Fertile, Minnesota on April 21, 1925 to Harry and Lena Carr. They moved to Columbus, Montana while Ed was a child and eventually began dairy farming. In 1942 Ed enlisted in the USMC, completed his training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. and was shipped out to the Pacific. He fought and was wounded on Iwo Jima February 26, 1945 which resulted in his honorable discharge and return to Montana.
After the war Ed met and married June Chambers in 1947. Their union produced two daughters; Sandy and Jeannie. Ed and his young family moved to Anacortes, WA in 1957 where he began working in the construction business as a very accomplished finish carpenter. Ed and his family eventually moved to Yakima in 1960. After a few more years Ed and June divorced and Ed moved to Alaska where he worked on the pipeline in Valdez until its completion. He liked Alaska so much he decided to stay and live in Anchorage for many years. After Ed retired he returned to Yakima to be closer to his children. Ed loved life and enjoyed his time here to the fullest. He will be sorely missed.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents; Harry and Lena Carr, two brothers; Frank and Lloyd and sister, Emily.
Ed is survived by his daughters; Sandy Carr Perkins and Jeannie Carr; his grandsons; Shane (Jenna) McCall of Baltimore, MD and Mattheu McCall of Greenwood, SC and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
A small service will be held on January 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion. Further arrangements have been made to return daddy to his roots in Montana later this summer.
