Evelyn Jane Keeter, 89, of Yakima passed away Monday, December 10, 2012. Jane was born to Mose R. & Jesse Pannell, September 22, 1923 in Eros, Arkansas. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from
Pyatt High School in 1941.
On April 17, 1943 she married Chester Keeter in Yellville, AR, while he was home on leave from military service. After the war they farmed in Arkansas for a short time. They then moved to Naches Heights area working in the fruit industry later purchasing their own orchard.
On November 8, 1958 Jane and Chester were blessed by the birth of their son Mark Anthony Keeter. Because of Mark’s health issues he spent many years in Yakima Convalescent, Jane spent nearly every day with him, missing only if she was ill. Over the years she developed many friendships there with the staff and residents, and became a living example of a mother’s love and devotion.
As well as being a loving mother, Jane was a devoted wife to Chester for over 60 years. She took great pride in keeping a beautiful home and garden. Her family fondly remembers her wonderful baking skills. She loved to crochet and listen to Southern Gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her son Mark Anthony Keeter, her husband Chester Keeter, her parents Mose R. & Jessie Pannell, her brothers Roy Pannell and Thomas Pannell and sister Margie Smith.
She is survived by her sister, Daisy Johnson of Gassville, AR and brother, Charles Pannell of Lake City, FL as well as many nieces & nephews. She was like a second mother to her sister Margie’s children: Rick Smith, Ron (Linda) Smith & Tina (Greg) Bolin and their families. Every visit ending the same, with us saying “We Love You” and her saying “I Love You More”.
The family would like to thank everyone at Garden Terrace Adult Family Home for their loving care of Jane. It was greatly appreciated.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.
Visitation will be from Noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17th at Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel with burial following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
