

Fred R. Briggs, 77, of Bothell, Washington, passed away on December 22, 2017, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Fred was born on October 29, 1940 in Yellville, Arkansas to Leon and LaRue (Keeter) Briggs.
He graduated from West Valley High School in 1960 and during high school played on the baseball team. He has always had a fondness for baseball and loved watching the Seattle Mariners.
On February 22, 1964 he married Darlene Baldridge. She passed away in December 1998.
Fred served in the Army National Guard for 27 years as a Chief Warrant Officer. After he retired from full-time military service, he became an insurance agent until his retirement in 2009. After retirement he worked for the Seattle Mariners as a seating host at local games.
He met Judy Olson while attending an Evergreen Hospice grief share support group that Judy, whose husband had passed away, also attended. They eventually became grief share facilitators at their church for five years. Fred and Judy were married on April 27, 2003.
Mr. Briggs attended Evergreen Church with Judy and over the years he was involved in the church connect group, a Sunday morning greeter and men’s Saturday morning bible study.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Bothell, daughters Debbie Schuffenhauer (Larry) and Terri Williams (Bob) of Shelton, and daughter Laurie Gigstead (Rusty) of Ellensburg, and seven grandchildren – Jeff, John and Jared Schuffenhauer, Kyle and Nicholas Gigstead, Josh Williams and Katie Williams-Garcia, and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Michael (Jerie) of Union Gap, and Judy’s son, Brian Olson (Lisa) and three grandsons – Henry, Oliver and Simon. Fred felt blessed to include them as part of his family.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2018 at the Evergreen Church, 3429 240th Street S.E., Bothell, WA 98021.
