Frederick Alan Mildfelt of Yakima, our loving father, and 61years young, went to join his beloved Savior on January 5, 2011. Dad was born September 8, 1949 to William and Arlene (Fisher) Mildfelt. He resided in Yakima all his life.
Dad enjoyed life to the fullest! As a young man, he loved to work, save money, collect coins and eat at Miners Restaurant. After graduation from Eisenhower High School in 1967, Dad started a career working in produce at Southgate Wray’s Thriftway. It was his mentor and “father figure“, Ira Amos, that hired Dad. He worked for more than 20 years in the produce business. While working at Wray’s, he married Vicki Hyatt, raised two “wonderful children,” and invested in numerous properties. Dad always told us, “a living is made from 8-5 and a fortune is made from 5-10 p.m.! When dad wasn’t working, he took the family fishing at either Bumping Lake or Puget Sound. As his children grew older, he spent a lot of his time volunteering with the West Valley and Pepsi Pak Legion Baseball programs. He enjoyed watching Jeff play baseball until the end of the summer of 1994. After baseball, Dad continued managing his rental properties, enjoyed many family vacations to the Oregon Coast and Sunday dinners. Dad was a simple man with unconditional love for his family, his best friend, Brian Jones, and Vicki.
Frederick is survived by his family; son, Jeff Mildfelt; daughter, Carrie (Aaron) Becker; brother, Richard; mother, Arlene; his wonderful grandchildren Kailyn, Jesse, Lani and Taylor; nephews, Bill Mildfelt and Matthew Walkenhauer.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Mildfelt; sisters, Kathryn Mildfelt, Debbie Walkenhauer and Linda Moreno; and niece, Danielle Moreno.
A special thank you to all of the caregivers that have take care of Dad over the last several years and to Brian Jones; THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. You truly were Dad’s best friend. He loved you so much
