Gladys Ann Dove 74, went to be with her husband Hubert Ray Dove on May 10, 2018. Gladys was born October 7, 1943 in Patterson, CA to Robert Lee and Georgia Gladys Conduff. The family spent time in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, and ended up in Washington. Gladys attended Highland Grade School and Davis High School. When she was 17 she met and married the love of her life.
Hubert was stationed at Ft. Lewis and made the trip to Yakima to see Gladys as often as he could. They were married in Yakima April 7, 1961. They then moved to Virginia for Hubert’s job. On Gladys’ 19th birthday, she gave birth to her only child, Wena Lynn. A few months later, they moved back to Washington State. Herbert was sent off to the Vietnam War and Gladys was left to raise Wena and keep up with running a home. Gladys and Hubert had a second honeymoon in Hawaii when Hubert had furlough from the war. Gladys worked several years for Allan Brothers sorting and packing. Hubert and Gladys always were trying to better their lives and purchased a small orchard in 1971 and then purchased a larger orchard in Gleed in 1977.
In 1975 Gladys was in an elevator accident that changed her life, both ankles were shattered. She went back to school at Trend Business College and was on the Dean’s list every month. She then became a CNA and worked at several nursing homes. Gladys and Wena would take off to Vegas every Fall after harvest for their birthday. The last several years Hubert started joining them on their Vegas adventures. The most remarkable characteristic about Gladys was her happy caring nature. Even when she was in pain she worried about everyone else and still was able to smile, laugh and joke around.
Gladys will be greatly missed, but she is joining her family that had preceded her in death: both of her parents, her oldest sister Dora Lee, older brother Robert Lee Conduff II, and her loving husband of 57 years, Hubert Ray Dove. She is survived by her daughter, Wena Lynn Dove and her older sister Roberta Grace Thompson and her husband Finnis (Ted) Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 17, 2018 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
