Harold Snyder, age 75, of Yakima, Washington passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2011. Harold was born March 30, 1936 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Andrew and Mary Snyder. Harold attended St. Paul Cathedral School then attended Marquette, graduating in 1954.
Harold had a passion of fishing, especially for steelhead on the Klickitat River “Just three more casts”, bird hunting and golfing. Attending and supporting all of his kids and grandkids sporting events was one of his life’s great joys. Playing pool at the Harman center with his buddies was another of his favorite pastimes. Harold loved life, and had a faith-filled love of God. He was active in the Holy Family choir, and loved to sing at home, in the car and at church.
During his high school years, Harold met the love of his life, Bernice H. Rice, on May 19, 1956 and were married for 56 amazing years, continuing writing love letters to Bernice until his very last days. Harold and Bernice operated and owned Snyder’s German Sausage for 42 years, where they made over 20 varieties of homemade sausages. Still enjoyed today, the recipes were handed down to his daughter Tammy and son-in-law Tom.
Dad touched so many hearts. He was always positive and full of love. Even when his health started to fail, he never complained.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the caring, dedicated people who provided loving care to our Father, especially Davita Dialysis Center. We also give special thanks to Fr. César, Fr. Murtagh, Fr. Gary, Fr. Felipe Pulido and Msgr. Ecker.
Harold is survived by wife Bernice; three children, Raymond Snyder (Tami), Sandi Hays (Bill), and Tammy Fischer (Tom); three brothers, Damian Snyder (Joan), Howard Snyder (his best friend), and Ron Snyder (Sherlyn); Sister Mary Goodman (Jerry); He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Clint, Justine, Joseph, Hanna, Deneé, Jenny, Sarah, Brian, Daniel, and Kathryn.
