Helen L Brown was born to Maney and Ruby Brown-Erickson in Glendive Mt on November 21, 1918. She graduated to heaven on March 5, 2013 in Yakima WA Helen was raised in Montana and attended Simpson Bible College, Nyack Missionary College and University of Washington. In preparation for overseas missionary work she studied French in Paris for a year.
Over the span of 31 years she served with the Christian and Missionary Alliance as a missionary to Guinea, Ivory Coast and later, Monte Carlo. She told great interesting stories of her time abroad. Ill health required her to return to the states where she battled and survived cancer. After retiring in 1981 she lived in Bradenton, Florida until moving to Yakima in 1999 to be near her brother Arvid Erickson and his family.
Helen spent many enjoyable hours painting with oils. She also loved to entertain, write, read and was an excellent cook. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Yakima.
She was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by one sister, Anna Lee (Allan) Stewart of British Columbia and many nieces and nephews. Locally she is survived by two nephews, Doug (Judy) and Rick (Ruth) Erickson of Yakima.
