

He was born in Fairfield, Texas on May 17, 1914 to George and Ella (Jones) Emmons. James worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction in his early years and later in life was a farm laborer working in the fruit industry.
He is survived by a son, Jim Emmons and a daughter, Patricia Britt both of Modesto, CA; stepchildren, Ted Vickers and his fiancé, Stephanie Sabo of Yakima, Cathy Thompson of Marysville, Pat Conklin of Las Vegas, NV, Mike Vickers of Yakima and Gerald Vickers of Kelso; his sister, Marie; grandchildren, Bobby Britt, Cherie Britt, Jim Emmons Jr., Jody Emmons, Daniel Vickers and Crystal Vickers; great grandchildren, Macie, Brandon, Amber and Shane; and great great grandchildren, Cohen, Aden, Mariah and Marisa. James was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Emmons, his parents, a daughter, Betty Welch and a granddaughter, Robin Welch.
Visitation will be held at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel on Thursday, November 15 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Keith & Keith Funeral Home are entrusted with arrangements.
