James (Jim) W. Hanna Jr. passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2017 in Yakima, Washington. He was born in Camp Carson, Colorado on July 30, 1952 to James Sr. and Nellie Hanna. Upon graduation from Lewiston High School in 1970, Jim served in the U.S. Army. When he completed his service, he moved to Alaska to build houses for the native villages. He later went on to help his parents settle on a 100 acre ranch in Lewiston, Idaho. Jim enjoyed riding horses, branding and caring for cattle, hauling hay and repairing equipment to help get the ranch going.
Jim worked in construction for most of his life. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #59. He finished his career as a project manager when he retired in 2014. His passion though, was woodworking, which he showed proudly in and around his home. The quality of his work was appreciated by all his friends and neighbors that would enlist his help on their projects. Jim’s other hobbies included hunting and fishing. Jim was one of a kind, marching to a different beat than everyone around him.
Jim is survived by his wife Pauline of 25 years; parents James and Nellie Hanna; sister barb (Kirk) Holt; son Steven (Shana) Hanna; daughter Brittin Hanna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who loved him, especially his wife Pauline.
“Rest in peace, Honey.”
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2017 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
