

Jeannie Castillo-Lemos was born August 4th 1937 and died in Yakima on September 17th 2015. Born in Grafton, North Dakota to Antonio Velasquez and Barbara Perez. She was the first of ten children. She was raised and educated in Yakima. She married Manuel Castillo on August 3rd 1963. They had two children, Marcos Castillo and Gina Castillo-Rivera. She attended CWU and graduated in 1975 with a BA in education. She taught elementary school for 25 years. She began and ended her teaching career at Hoover Elementary School. She was always so proud of knowing that she had a hand in educating the lives of so many children in Yakima. In 1997 she married John Lemos. They had 18 great years together.
Jeannie enjoyed teaching, her family, shopping, traveling, her oldies music and a good party. She was preceded in death by her father Antonio, her step mother Cecelia, her mother Barbara, and her step father Ralph Grajeda, her first husband Manuel and brother-in-law Ken Hauge.
She is survived by her second husband John Lemos, her son Marcos Castillo, her daughter Gina (Alejandro) Rivera, siblings, Tina (Greg) Valenzuela, Helen (Leonard) Hughes, Tony (Esther) Velasquez, Richard (Sandy) Velasquez, Maryalice Hague, Sonya Brooks, Michelle Velasquez, Tara Hilton, Bobby Jo (Russ) Whittorf, her grandchildren Tasha Mccane, Takesha Coleman, Ryan (Vanessa) Coleman, Giovanna (Tom) Wilent, Alejandra Rivera, Benicio Rivera, ten great grandchildren, seven step-children, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
At the end she was surrounded by her family and friends. She truly loved em’, loved em’, loved em’!
