Jeffrey, fondly known as Jeff, was born to John and Josephine Simpson in Ephrata, WA, on September 9, 1952. His time and adventures in Ephrata with his brothers, John and Joel, and his cousins were some of his fondest memories. Jeff went on to attend college at Washington State University where he graduated with honors. He was studious and achieved great academic success while at WSU. In between study sessions Jeff enjoyed hanging out with his friends at his fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon, otherwise known as “The Lodge” After graduating near the top of his class at WSU Jeff was accepted into various law schools but chose to attend the University of Washington School of Law because he wished to remain close to his family and friends. His undergraduate success continued into law school where he excelled in his studies. After graduating from UW and passing the Bar Exam Jeff moved to Yakima, WA, where he met the love of his life and wife of the last forty-two (42) years, Arlene Simpson.
Jeff and Arlene had countless memories over the years and raised two children, Stephanie and Michael. Jeff wore many hats over the course of his life and was always proud of being a lawyer. He practiced law in Yakima for over forty years as a partner at what became Talbott, Simpson, and Davis, and was well respected in the legal community.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Jeff over the years would tell you he was quick with a joke, many times too quick… and that his sense of humor was contagious. Jeff will also be remembered for his extreme kindness and mentoring abilities.
Jeff is survived by his wife Arlene and two children, Stephanie and Michael and their families. He is also survived by his beloved brother Joel Simpson, Joel’s family, numerous cousins, and his granddaughter Eleanor Macias.
Jeff’s family and friends will host a funeral service at Holy Family Church on March 17, 2023, at 10:00 am with a celebration of life to follow.
