June Marie Schroeder, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Selah, WA. She was born on June 7, 1938 in Oglesby, Illinois to Donald and Olga (Mayzak) Donovan Sr. The family moved to San Bernardino, CA where she graduated from Pacific High School with the class of 1956.
After being widowed at an early age, June married the love of her life Linus R. Schroeder on September 5, 1964 in Las Vegas, NV. They went on to settle in San Jose, CA where she worked as both a hairdresser and florist while Linus worked as an inspector for United Airlines. In 1977, the produce industry brought the family to the Yakima Valley where Linus operated his own trucking company transporting fruit and June kept the books balanced.
Hairdressing suited her well, she was fantastic with people and got along with everybody, even the cantankerous ones. June was also very artistic and talented as a florist creating beautiful pieces for people to enjoy. For our family, she was a “Super Mom,” always there with a listening ear and with words of encouragement, love and support. We were blessed to have her and honored to call her our wife, mother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband Linus, two sons, Philip (Denette Marie) Schroeder and Larry (Amy) Schroeder; brother Don Donovan; sister Donna “Toots” Anderson; seven grandchildren (Brian, Bradley, Amy, Lauren, Ryan, Matthew & Mckenna) and one great-grandchild (Emily). June was preceded in death by her parents, son William Ray, and daughter Theresa Schroeder Brill.
Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Friday, April 14, 2017 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow the service at the Wenas Cemetery. To share a memory of June please visit www.keithandkeith.com.
