

LEONARD WARREN BALDT was born on June 16, 1952 in Yakima Washington to Douglas Warren Baldt and Delores L. (Goodman) Baldt. He was known as Leo to friends and work associates and Len to his family. In younger years, he attended schools in Yakima and Tri cities area. High school years he attended west Valley High School and graduated from A.C. Davis High School in 1970.
He enlisted and served in the US Navy from August 1972 to September 1974. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was under the vessel USS Grasp ARS 24 whose mission was the Operation End Sweep. His service also allowed him to travel to Asian destinations like the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, and Hongkong. The machinist training, he received during his military service, became his life career. For numerous years, he was employed at Paxton Sales Corp and Irwin Research & Development. His work experience and determination led him to set up his own business in 1987, Baldt Machine Works which started out as a “garage business and the year after a business building was acquired.
He enjoyed and built cars and participated in the Vintiques car club. He founded the Yakima Rods & Customs in the early to mid-1980’s. He was a member of the Fairgrounds Gun Club and participated at Mt. Clements Archery Club and 3D Schools. He was a 3rd level trained Olympic Archery coach and was involved with Washington State JOAD indoor archery championships and Washington State Archery in the Schools Program at A.C. Davis High School. He also helped build/modify equipment for the USA Olympic Handicap Archers. For many years he was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval reenactment group. He promoted archery around the pacific northwest and taught many related crafts. Thru the years, he owed several models of motorcycles and enjoyed riding. He was the member of the Combat Veterans United (CVU).
Leonard married Patricia Denhoff in 1976. They were blessed with two children, Whitney N. Baldt and Dallas T. Baldt. The marriage ended on April 2008. In 2013, Leonard met Felisa Tibay (Beth), a Filipina from Manila Philippines. They married in 2014 and built their life together in Yakima. Leonard’s health however took a toll on him that Beth became his primary caregiver throughout their marriage until his passing. Leonard is survived by his wife of nine (9) years, Felisa D. Tibay-Baldt (Beth) of Yakima, two (2) children, a daughter Whitney N. Baldt and son Dallas T. Baldt both of Yakima. His sister Spring Baldt-Wathen of Kennewick WA, his in-laws from the Philippines Liduvina + Gaudencio Reyes, Virginia + Alfredo Rivero, Manuel + Cheryl Tibay, Ermelinda Mortega and Cristina Tibay and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Delores Brennan, father Douglas Warren Baldt. Grandparents Amos and Nellie Goodman and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7,2023 at 2 o’clock PM at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home located at 1010 W. Yakima Ave. Reception directly following at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made under Leo’s name to his favorite Charitable Organization, The 700 Club, a CBN ministry that provides US and international humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
