Lois Audrey Meiser - Taylor passed away in her sleep surrounded by her family at the age of 90 on November 11, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima, Washington. Mom was born March 14, 1926 in Puyallup, WA to Chester and Pearl McLean. Chester and Pearl were early homesteaders in Connell but had to return to Puyallup for a short time. They later returned to Connell where Lois graduated from high school. On June 23, 1943 she married William (Jean) Meiser before he left to serve with his three brothers in the Navy in the Pacific Theater. They welcomed twin girls, Diane and Cynthia into their lives. They were followed by Steve and Sylvia. Cancer cut Jean’s life short August 3, 1977.
The second chapter of Mom’s life began when she met and married Jack Taylor in 1983. Together they created a blended family and a marriage that lasted 30 years until Jack died February 23, 2013. Mom became mother to two new daughters, Connie and Gayle. During Mom and Jack’s time together they traveled the country in their motorhome and spent many winters as snowbirds playing golf in Arizona.
In 1998 they made Yakima their full time home in order to be close to family and friends. Mom had a deep and abiding love for the Lord Jesus Christ. She modeled her faith participating in many activities at First Presbyterian Church, Yakima now known as Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church. She had the most beautiful voice and graced the congregation with her music for many years.
She was active in Mary McLean Circle and Bible studies both in church and in friends’ homes. While Jack was alive, they made a wonderful team delivering medicine as hospice volunteers.
Her hobbies were gardening, sewing and cooking, which included her famous pies. During the Holidays, she would bake as many as a dozen pies much to the delight of her sons-in law and her son Steve. Mom loved parties and we know she felt like she was going to a party as she left her earthly home for her everlasting, heavenly home.
Mom is survived by six children, Diane (Glen) Williams, Cindy (Maurice) Peugh, Steve (Gloria) Meiser, Sylvia (Bruce) Kirkham, Connie (Joe) Farina and Gayle (Bob) Hall. And 14 grandchildren Jennifer (Lance) Hepworth, Johnny Williams, Chris (Krista) Hays, Clint (Val) Hays, Lindsey (Ben) Nusbaum, Steven (Leah) Meiser, Contessa Allen Clayton (Michelle) Kirkham, Tony (Karla) Farina, Janelle (Brad) Stewart, Angela Farina and Lisa Luebeck, Jaclyn (Jason) Midkif, Kirstin (Wes) Jones, Erica (Josh) Meadows and ten great grandchildren. Mom is also survived by a sister Ellouise Schafer.
Mom’s family thanks the staff of Virginia Mason/Memorial Hospital and recognize the amazing care provided at Cottage in the Meadow under the guidance of Dr. Patrick Waber and the love and compassion of Pastor Cindy Shively of Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church.
