Louis was born in Ellensburg, Washington on July 5, 1947. Tuffy loved life. He spent 12 years at Rainier School in Buckley, Washington then moved back to Yakima to live out the rest of his life in three different skilled nursing facilities, including 22 years at Garden Village, the last one at Parkside Nursing Home in Union Gap. He had a special gift of making everyone fall in love with him. He had many nurses in the valley wrapped around his little finger. His favorite saying was “home” telling the nurses what time to leave and go home to their families. Good jokes and listening to everyone’s conversation (only if he could tell over the years).
Surviving family include his father, Myrl Sanders of Yakima; one brother, Michael Sanders of Selah; two sisters, Connie (Jerry) Moen of Yakima and Terri (Don) Swart of Union Gap; nephew Greg (Janis) Swart of Selah, Jeff Moen of Seattle and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Sanders and two nieces, Kristi Moen Dale and Yvonna Swart Bardwell.
