

After her formal education, Lydia and her mother came out to Yakima to visit her brother. Lydia decided to stay, and in time, she met her future husband, Lloyd Underwood, whose father employed her brother milking cows. After their marriage, Lydia, a self described "farm girl" and Lloyd bought a place on Weikel Road which they farmed for many years. They started out using horses and milking by hand-Lydia was the milker. In addition to helping Lloyd with their farm, Lydia worked evenings as a waitress at the Chalet Inn for many years. After retiring, Lydia and Lloyd enjoyed traveling for several years, and their favorite means of traveling was taking cruises. She and Lloyd enjoyed over 72 years of marriage.
Lydia was a longtime member of Yakima Covenant Church, formerly Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her son, Richard; and one grandson, Daniel. She leaves behind her grandson, Dennis Underwood (Denise) and three great grandsons.
A memorial service will be held for Lydia on Friday, September 29th at 1:00 P.M. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home on Yakima Avenue.
Interment will follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
