Margaret St. George passed away peacefully at Cottage in the Meadow, surrounded by her family, on February 23rd, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born on February 10th, 1926 in Shields, North Dakota to Jacob and Barbara Becker (Schall).
Margaret graduated from Selfridge High School in Selfridge, North Dakota in July of 1943. Not long after graduating, she taught at one of the local schools on Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota. Margaret moved to Yakima with her sister Beata and soon met and fell in love with her soulmate, Adlore (Ed) St. George. They married on May 4th, 1946 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Yakima and were married for 59 years until his passing in 2006. Margaret worked at Yakima Valley Evaporating Company for many years, and then moved on to work for the Yakima Herald-Republic, from where she retired in 1987. After retirement, Margaret and her husband Ed enjoyed watching baseball and traveling. One of their favorite pastimes was to cheer on their grandchildren at their baseball games, and watching the Mariners.
Margaret also loved to play Pinochle, bake many delicious dishes, and travel in her motor home, especially with her grandchildren. Sharing time with her family and friends was one of the things Margaret cherished most, and she loved watching her family grow. Her faith and love for the Lord was unconditional and she was an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be missed dearly.
Margaret is survived by her son Gary (Melva) St. George of Yakima, and daughter Susan (Kelly) McDonald of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Todd (Amanda) St. George of Seattle, Troy (Paige) St. George of Seattle, Steve (Kaelynn) McDonald of Bend, OR, Kevin (Ercileen) McDonald of Boise, ID, Sean (Holly) McDonald of Olympia, Traci (Joe) Connolly of Yakima, and Tori St. George of Pullman, WA; great grandchildren, Alec (Amanda), Christa, Carley, Layne, and Ella St. George, Kylie, Raena, Uriah, Kael, Hailey, and Zach McDonald, and Trey, Jayden, and Chase Connolly; great-great grandchildren, Connor and Reagan St. George; godson, Bob St. George of Federal Way, WA; and dear friends, Angie Robel and Sister Agnes Huck.
