

Margaret was born on August 8, 1925 in Yakima to Theresa and Sandy Shelton. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1943. She was a member of the Cadet Nurses Corps and graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1946.
In June of 1947, Margaret and Leo Kushner were married in St. Paul’s Cathedral. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Cathedral. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Neighborhood Health Clinic and Carebears. Also, she was a volunteer for the Providence Medical Center Hospice for over 15 years and was a 15-gallon blood donor.
Margaret loved antiques and enjoyed gardening, spending time at the cabin, and cooking for family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her seven children, Steve and his wife Kathy of San Francisco, CA, Teena Kushner and her husband Jeffrey Burnett of Spokane, WA, Paul and his wife, Joan of McMinnville, OR, RoseAnn and her husband Dr. Mark Holodiny of Palo Alto, CA, Mark and his wife Elsie of Yakima, Dr. W. Thomas and his partner Dr. Phil Paros of Seattle, and George and his wife Shelly of Anacortes, WA. She is survived by 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Angela Mary Robel of Yakima, Theresa Ciez of Seattle, and her brothers John Shelton of Terebonne, OR and Stanley Shelton of Yakima.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Leo A. Kushner, her parents Stanley and Theresa Shelton, her sisters Genevieve Pontes and Shirley Emard of Santa Maria, CA and infant sister Elizabeth.

A Vigil service will be held at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. following a family rosary service that will be begin at 5:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend the rosary service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Cathedral on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 10.00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
