Margery Martina Gilde

Margery graduated from Lower Naches High School and Whitman Business College. She began her career at the Yakima County Courthouse and then worked for 28 years as the secretary at the Lower Naches Elementary School. She loved being around the children and playing tricks on the teachers.

For many years "Susie" taught pre-school age Sunday School at the Memorial Bible Church. She formed a band for the children, making drums and shakers from empty oatmeal cartons and toilet paper tubes.

"Susie" belonged to the Lower Naches Woman's Club and the Memorial Bible Church. She loved animals and would hand-feed orphaned kittens, chickens, birds, puppies and calves. Her little dog, Puffy, was one of her best friends.

Margery was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Grace Byl Gilde, her sister, Martina Schmidt, brother, Martin Gilde Jr. and uncle, John C. Gilde.

She is survived by her sister, Nellie Assink; two nieces, Macile Assink and Marti Powell; one nephew and his wife, Marty and Liz Assink; great-nieces, Jonna Powell and Eleanor (Daniel) Schroeder and great nephew, Joshua Powell.

Grateful thanks for the kindness of her loving caregivers, Theresa Scott and Marla Prante, and to the staff and physicians at Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be 4:00 -8:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16th at Terrace Heights Memorial Park with a Memorial Service starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Bible Church in Gleed.
