Martin James (Marty) Adcock, Age 54, passed away July 18, 2025. Marty had battled a heart valve failure and recovered. Then cancer invaded his body to which he succumbed to at the end. Marty was born in Yakima and attended special education classes in several Yakima schools and graduated from AC Davis high school. Marty worked for Yakima Specialties in the wood section and retired from there after twenty-five years. Marty was a positive-minded guy and always had a smile and a greeting for everyone he met. He loved to please others and was always ready to lend a helping hand for any chore. If you were working on a vehicle, he would be right there asking questions about what you were doing.
For Show & Tell he took a screwdriver to school and got in trouble for taking screws out of the school bus seats. His favorite pastime was using his personal toolbox and dismantling an old lawnmower or some other mechanical piece. Those pieces usually didn't get reassembled correctly, but it didn't matter. He was enjoying himself. For his sixteenth birthday Marty was presented with a three-wheel bicycle which he rode around the neighborhood making friends with the neighbors. Marty spent over thirty years living with the Paul & Nicki Reese (Miranda Care) family in Terrace Heights and became like a family with the Reese family until his health began to fait from cancer. Marty was often seen walking from Walmart in Terrace Heights to the Reese home on 39th St. (Miranda Care). He walked that route for fifteen years until he suffered a heart ailment. Marty will be missed by the medical staff at North Star that worked to rid Marty of the cancer that ended his short life. Marty is survived by his brother Michael (Rachael) and his parents Jim & Joyce Adcock.
Marty loved country music and especially "truckin" songs. He very much enjoyed watching the remote-controlled aircraft and Ben's Strip each spring and the Antique Power Show each August at Fulbright Park in Union Gap. One of his tasks he enjoyed was mowing the lawn and kept that lawnmower clean and shined as though it were his sports car. Marty was a joy to be with, and we will miss him terribly. We wish to thank the Memorial MultiCare Hospice staff for the excellent care they gave Marty during his final days.
Funeral service will be held July 31st at 1:00 PM at the West Valley Nazarene Church located at West Nob Hill Blvd and south 72d Avenue.
