Wagner on October 9, 1934 in New Leipzig, North Dakota. The family moved to Yakima where he grew
up in the Tampico and Ahtanum areas.
Marvin had a great sense of adventure and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 where he served on
the USS Intrepid. His time of service greatly impacted his life in many ways.
He married Juanita Yost on August 4, 1956. They raised their three daughters, Jacki, Sheri and Brenda,
in the house they built together in Ahtanum.
Marv loved to laugh, tease and joke around especially with the neighborhood kids and then later with his
grandkids. One thing was for sure he had a way with words, whether to encourage or give insight those
words would stick with you for a long, long time.
He was a hard worker and enjoyed many jobs including positions in sales at Worrell Meat in the 60's and
later many years at Michelsen Packaging where he was involved in Easy Way Trucking and M & W Leasing.
He also owned and operated M & W Sales which sold apple bins and pallets. Marvin had an interest in real estate and owned many rentals including the iconic Swiss Village Motel which he liked working on. He even tried his hand at flipping a house in the 70's.
He had a zest for life and kept many hobbies over the years such as playing cards, especially solitaire and
doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He enjoyed golf, bike riding and hiking. He also loved to hunt and fish all over the valley and always until dark. He cherished the time spent with his two grandsons who are avid outdoorsmen today. Marv listened to music with a passion, specifically the blues and spent time perfecting his West Coast Swing dancing. He spent many winters in Palm Springs, CA. relaxing and enjoying the sunshine.
Marvin was always in good health and was a man of tall stature who greeted you with a friendly smile and
a firm handshake. He was known to say in his later years, "I've had a great life."
Marvin is survived by his dear companion of 38 years, Kathy Schuknecht, three daughters: Jacki (Lyle)
Landis, Benton City; Sheri (Robert) Lockbeam, Yakima; Brenda Wagner, Kennewick; Two grandsons:
Corey (Kara) Lockbeam and Matthew (Heidi) Lockbeam, Six great-grandchildren: Sierra, Benjamin, Titus and Arie Lockbeam and Kais and Zade Lockbeam; and a sister, Gladys Wagner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Pauline and brother Harry.
